OUR HISTORY
Pioneer Gem Corporation is an importing/exporting/wholesaling/retailing loose colored Gemstone business founded in 1970 in Seattle, Washington by Dr Edward J Nowak, Jr as a sole proprietorship (Pioneer Gem Company). Pioneer Gem Company was initially started as the International Division and 'Buying Arm' of Dr Nowak's family run business, JoGem Inc, which was also founded in 1970 in Seattle, Washington.
JoGem Inc served the wholesale jewelry trade west of the Mississippi as a full service custom cutting/wholesaling colored Gem House with offices located in the downtown Seattle jewelry district from 1970-1984. JoGem Inc was also an exhibitor and participant in many regional and national Gem Shows from 1970-1984 including Tucson in its early years. JoGem Inc was sold in 1984 to a large international Gem dealer from New York City who quickly renamed it Sheena Corp and ran it into bankruptcy by employing East Coast 'hard sell' tactics to a mostly West Coast customer base.
Pioneer Gem Company was incorporated as Pioneer Gem Corporation in 1985 and moved to Auburn, Washington. In Auburn Dr Nowak changed his Gem focus into strictly mail order and catalog sales to other Gem dealers, manufacturing jewelers, retail jewelers, jewelry designers, Gem hobbyists and Gem collectors and Investors. This is our focus today.
Pioneer Gem Corporation has also maintained and active internet presence (website) since 1995 and been an accredited member of the local Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating (the highest rating possible) since 2008.
